Caring for a loved one has a profound effect on any family. Feelings of grief, stress, anger, resentment, frustration and exhaustion are common side-effects of caregiving. Social and community supports can help reduce all of these.
Through a grant from the Administration for Community Living administered by the Iowa Department on Aging, the Iowa Lifespan Respite Coalition provides funds for emergency respite care for caregivers in crisis.
Emergency respite care is a service that provides access to care for an individual of any age, at any time of the day or night, when a caregiver is facing a crisis. The Coalition recognizes that a crisis situation may look different for everyone and seeks to help caregivers who are experiencing emotional or medical crises related to familial duties and a variety of other situations through funding and connecting caregivers to respite providers.
